Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk visits St. Sava Cathedral in Belgrade
On 17 February 2020, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), currently on a two-day visit to Belgrade at the invitation of His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia and with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, visited the Cathedral of St. Sava on the Vračar plateau. He was met at the entrance with the bread and salt hospitality by clerics and parishioners.
Accompanied by the sacristan of the cathedral, Bishop Stefan of Remesiana, vicar bishop of His Holiness Patriarch of Serbia; Mr. Nikolai Mukhin, national artist of Russia; and Ms. Manana Popova, vice-president of the Moscow international fund for UNESCO, Metropolitan Hilarion took the left to the vault of the cathedral and had a look at the progress in work for its adornment being done by a team of Russian workers in mosaics led by artist Mukhin.

After that, the hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church proceeded to the crypt where his book ‘What Do Orthodox Christians Believe’ translated into Serbian was presented.
